RELENTLESS

Characterised by Rennie’s distinctive language, RELENTLESS presents a suite of vibrant paintings and dynamic totems that reflect a hybrid form of contested binaries ¬– visible and invisible, public and private, urban and traditional.

Through reflective materials including polished aluminium and mirror, with the use of seductive hues of gold, metallic pink and cobalt blue, the artist provokes a discussion of cultural and social visibility in a contemporary environment.

Rennie’s sensory exhibition entices viewers into an immersive engagement where reflective devices erase perceived physical boundaries to rupture the gaze of oneself and the work they are looking at.

The title of Rennie’s exhibition, RELENTLESS speaks to a persistent and increasingly intense experience of the artists endurance with personal and political narratives through the lens of his Aboriginal identity and broader cultural themes around power, identity, memory and history.
